I was told once (by a girl that I was dating) that a girl’s bedroom is a private place, and that you shouldn’t go in unless invited. From my observations over the years of having found myself ending up time and time again in many girls’ bedrooms (as was the case this past weekend) I’ve observed that most all of them were very similar.
You can e-mail me and tell me if I am wrong on this but here goes my observations of a girls’ bedroom.
When you first walk in most all will have the following, a bed with lots of pillows on it. More often then not it will be a light colored bedspread. There will be a bookshelf of sorts, on that bookshelf will be some of last semesters college text books, and if room in front of the books or on a shelf of it’s own will be some stand up frame photos of the lucky girl with some of her friends as well as a few family photos. But that’s not the only place you will find photos. There will be a frame or two on the wall (a montage of sorts) more of the same kind of photos. The same type you would often see on her MySpace profile. Now over to her small dresser you will find a doily with a tray oftentimes a mirror will sit at the base of the tray and on the tray you will find many types of perfumes (most girls who like to go out stock two to three brands, Victoria’s Secret being one of them), skin lotions, and a basket of makeup. Near that tray will be a small box where she keeps her jewelry. From the mirror on the dresser will hang lots of dangling things like a cheap plastic flower leis, and Mardi Gras beads she got on Cinco de Mayo at that local dive bar down the street. Of course any girls’ bedroom wouldn’t be complete without that pink sports team hat also hanging from the corner of the mirror. Now let’s work our way back to her bed. Because near the bed will be a nightstand. On her nightstand is where she will put her cell phone for the night as well as all jewelry she was wearing that except a necklace that she will decide to leave on while you two make love. You are allowed to take your watch off and put it there because your watch is big and bulky and after all if your hands are under her it may break. Included in the first drawer of the nightstand/phone table is all her “private things,” such as: condoms, lube, vibrators, birth control (if not found on top of the nightstand will sometimes be found in the bathroom), high school/ college photos of ex boyfriends and past love letters. That is the most sacred drawer in the room. Never let her know you looked in, even if you may have while she got up out of bed to use the bathroom or take a shower. Though most of her clothes will be in the dresser or hanging in the closet there will always be a few articles on clothing on the floor. These are semi-dirty clothes, meaning she can wear them again, but already has for less then a day so it’s too clean to put away and not dirty enough to wash. Speaking of the closet, here you will find the shoes, and lots of them, from high heels, and sneakers, to sandals and casual shoes (Puma, Sketchers, etc.) One pair will be outside the closet on the floor. Included in the closet you will find all her dress clothes as well as blouses hanging, mixed with closes from yesteryear that she is planning on, “fitting into again this summer when she goes on a diet.” On the top shelf in the closet you will find some folded blankets that she never uses, as well as a few stuffed animals or two, one being her childhood tag along and the other an ex gave her on Valentine’s Day from three years ago.
Even though girls’ rooms are so typical of each other. I am always amused every time I enter one, and there not as sacred as most will have you believe, rather there is no other place I would rather spend most of my time, because when you enter her room you enter a whole new world. Her world, the world she invites you into and lets you be apart of. A world only a few lucky guys in her life will be able to enter. Enjoy it while you are there. I know I do. Can you tell?
